LEWISTON – Shirley Katherine Godin, 79, a former resident of Mitchell Street, died Saturday, Feb. 12, at The Marshwood Center for Health Care and Rehabilitation, following a long illness.

She was born in Skowhegan, Nov. 28, 1925, the daughter of Godfrey and Katherine Breton. She was educated in the grammar schools of Skowhegan, and was a 1943 graduate of Skowhegan High School.

On April 2, 1945, she married Roy E. Godin in Skowhegan. He died May 21, 1994.

She was employed as a secretary for Benson-Sullivan Wholesale Distributors of Auburn for many years, before retiring in 1984.

She was a member of Holy Family Church Parish and Horizon 55 of Lewiston. She had previously been a member of the Daughters of Isabella of Skowhegan.

She enjoyed the interest of ceramics and reading. Her family, was what was most important in her life, and the times spent with them. She and her husband and family, made many fond memories, while enjoying time spent at Keoka Lake in Waterford.

Shirley, having missed her husband dearly, is finally at peace now, with him.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Steve (Kathy) Noyes of Mary Esther, Fla., and Mrs. Robert (Anne) Hopkins of Lewiston; three sons, Thomas Godin of Portland, Gary Godin of Daytona Beach, Fla., and Peter R. Godin, and his wife, Cheryl, of Poland; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
