LEWISTON – Yvonne Dechene, 90, of Lewiston, died Friday, Feb. 11, at Ste. Marguerite d’Youville Pavilion where she had resided the last six years.
She was born in Saint Sabine, P.Q., Canada on Aug. 6, 1914, the daughter of Eugene and Anna Beaudoin Gonthier. She moved to Lewiston in 1922.
She worked at Knapp Shoe Co., and was a spinner at the Hill Division of Bates Manufacturing Co., prior to her retirement. She also raised three children, Roger, Irene and Gerard. She was married to Treffle F. Dechene. She was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Parish and Les Dames de Ste. Anne.
She is survived by a son, Gerard Dechene and his wife, Betty, of Lewiston; and a daughter, Irene Melvin and her husband, Gary, of Flagstaff, Ariz.; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son; three sisters; and two brothers.
