AUGUSTA – Josephine C. Henry, 90, formerly of 502 Knox St., and Elsemore Apartments in Dixfield, died Wednesday Feb. 16, at Graybirch Rehabilitation Center in Augusta, following a brief illness.
She was born in Rumford, on March 11, 1914, a daughter of Frank and Angelina (Dalessio) Fergola, and was educated in Mexico schools.
Prior to her marriage to Bernard Henry on June 28, 1937, she was employed for several years at Oxford Paper Company, and later at Rumford Community Hospital in the Dietary Department. She later was employed at Hannaford’s and the Village Gift Shop.
Following her retirement, she lived in the Elsemore Apartments in Dixfield for many years.
She was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Parish in Dixfield, and St. Athanasius and St. John Catholic Church in Rumford.
She loved shopping, dining out and her many trips with Maine Line Tours with her girlfriends.
She also loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are two sons, Gerald R. Henry and wife, Annette, of Jackson, N.J., and Frank A. Henry and wife, Carolyn, of Winthrop; two sisters. Carolyn Gaudet and husband, Robert, of Syracuse, N.Y., and Mary Hinman of Yarmouth; a brother; Anthony Fergola and wife, Isabelle, of Mexico; five grandchildren, Lynn M. Ouellette and husband, Robert, II, Richard J. Henry and wife, Rebecca, Frank B. Henry and companion, Lisa Teske, Monica Lynn Henry and Gerald Matthew Henry; four great-grandchildren, Patrick R. Ouellette, Richard B. Henry, Caitlin Henry and Benjamin Michael Ouellette; two brothers-in-law, Robert McFadden of Florida, and Roger Lane of Peru; and sister-in-law, Betty Fergola of Kansas; also many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Bernard Henry in 1967; brothers, Albert, Victor and Frank Fergola; and sisters, Vera Lane and Gloria McFadden.
