AUBURN – Attorney Rebecca Webber of the Linnell, Choate & Webber recently presented a program on wage and hour issues for employer members of the Androscoggin Chamber of Commerce with Department of Labor inspector Lenny McKenna.

McKenna and Webber covered wage and hour topics, ranging from when overtime must be paid to “unfair agreements” to when deductions may be made from wages. McKenna and Webber also discussed the differences between exempt and nonexempt employees and mistakes that can lead to an employee’s becoming nonexempt and thus entitled to overtime pay.

Webber on Jan. 21 finished a two-year term as co-chairwoman of the Women’s Law Section of the Maine State Bar Association. Her final day in office included a section-sponsored program on assisting victims of domestic violence, chairing a program that included all the chief judges in Maine and feedback on proposed systemwide changes to the Maine court system, and presenting an award to Chief Justice Leigh Saufley, the first woman chief judge of Maine’s highest court. Webber’s speech closed the multi-day gathering of attorneys and judges from across the state.

Since 1994, Webber has practiced law at Linnell, Choate & Webber LLP. Before that, she was in the litigation department of Palmer & Dodge in Boston. She focuses her practice on employment law and commercial litigation.
