AUGUSTA (AP) – Gov. John Baldacci was back at work Friday, two days after breaking three of his ribs in a spill at the executive mansion.
Baldacci returned to his State House office Friday morning after two days of working out of the Blaine House.
Baldacci was injured Wednesday morning when he slipped on ice while stepping outside to get his morning newspapers. He was taken to MaineGeneral hospital in Augusta, and returned to the Blaine House a couple of hours later.
He canceled all public appearances for the remainder of the week but surprised some by showing up at the office Friday.
His fall came little more than a year after an accident in which a sports utility vehicle carrying the governor rolled over after hitting an icy patch on Interstate 295 in Bowdoinham. The governor broke a rib in that accident, as well.
