NEW YORK (AP) – The human remains found by a transit worker in a Brooklyn subway tunnel Thursday belonged to a 19-year-old man, police said.

The body parts – two legs severed just below the torso – had been stuffed in a plastic bag, said police spokesman Detective Eric Crisafi.

The remains belonged to Rashawn Brazell of Brooklyn, Crisafi said.

The discovery was made at about 3 a.m. Thursday during a routine track inspection outside the Nostrand Avenue station in Bedford-Stuyvesant.

The investigation is ongoing, Crisafi said.
