HALLOWELL – Fred Wallace Connor Jr., 88, of Hallowell, died Thursday, Feb. 17, at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick.

He was born in Augusta, Feb. 12, 1917, the son of Fred W. Sr. and Katherine (Jones) Connor. He was a 1936 graduate of Edward Little High School and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps that same year.

He married Marguerite Harlow in January of 1941.

He served in the Marines during World War II and the Korean Conflict. His total service was 30 years, retiring in 1966 as a captain. During his time in the Marines, he earned numerous medals, including the Bronze Star in Korea.

He returned to Maine and worked at Motor Supply, in Augusta until his final retirement in 1979.

Fred and Marguerite enjoyed traveling and camping together and family was very important to him. He especially enjoyed having his family gather with them around the holidays. The Connors were members of the Capitol Area Wheels and the Good Sam Club.

He is survived by his wife, Marguerite; two sons, James Connor and his wife, Joan, of Litchfield, and Donald Connor and his wife, Sara, of Brunswick; and three grandchildren, Benjamin, Adam and Erin Connor.
