FREEPORT – Kathleen Ada Hathaway Lovejoy died Feb. 12 at the Freeport Nursing Home.
Born on May 24, 1912, to William and Nellie Hathaway, with brothers, Bernard and Kenneth, she grew up on the family dairy farm in Turner.
She enjoyed working outdoors and helping with the farm animals. At 29, she married Arthur Lovejoy and moved to Bristol, Conn.
An attentive mother and homemaker, she was always saving “egg money” for the children’s clothing and toys. When her father died, the family returned to Maine to help with the farm.
Over the years she was lovingly cared for by her daughter, Nellie, Louise Courtemanche and staff at Freeport Nursing Home.
Survivors include a son, William Hathaway; stepdaughter, Alice Greenlaw; daughter, Nellie; and son-in-law, Charles Bourget; and several grandchildren.
