LIVERMORE – Noel Carroll Maillett, 90, of River Road, died Friday, Feb. 18, at Sandy River Nursing Care Center in Farmington following a brief illness.

He was born on Dec. 25, 1914, a son of Patrick and Agnes (Desroche) Maillett.

He was educated in Rumford schools and was a graduate of Stephens High School Class of 1933.

He married Lydia Victoria Gagnon on Aug. 10, 1939. She died on July 11, 1987, and then he married Yvette Hatch on March 11, 1989.

He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in November of 1942. He saw duty in the Pacific theater and was discharged in November of 1945.

He worked for Oxford Paper Company, also known as Boise Cascade, for 43 years. He retired in 1977 and was a member of the engineering dept., ending his career as a project engineer and was an honorary member of the Association of Engineers. Noel was a 4th Degree member of Father Ambrose Council 2091, Knights of Columbus and served as district deputy from 1955 to 1958 and was treasurer for 17 years. He was also Faithful Navigator for two terms.

He served as treasurer of the Assumption Society Scholarship Association and was a member of the Rumford Finance Committee for three years. For ten years, he served as a VITA’ volunteer income tax assistant in Rumford and Livermore, and also in Daytona Beach, Fla., while vacationing there in the winter.

He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Yvette Maillett of Livermore; a son, James N. Maillett and wife, Margaret, of Annapolis, Md.; a daughter; Louise E. Maillett and husband, David, of Chevy Chase, Md.; a brother, Raymond Maillett and wife, Lillian, of Reading, Mass.; and a grandchild, Heather Maillett and husband, Don, of Baltimore, Md.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Lydia, in 1987; a sister, Bertha Legere; and a brother, Edward Maillett.
