LEWISTON – Vernita J. Thomas, 57, of Norway, died Sunday at Central Maine Medical Center.

She was born in Lewiston, March 26, 1947, the daughter of Herbert and Dorothy Merrill Watson, and attended school in Norway.

She had been employed at Norway Footwear and Sebago Moccasin, and had worked as a waitress at the Chefs Table in Norway.

She enjoyed going to craft fairs, working with plastic canvas, camping, snowmobiling and ATV-ing. She enjoyed NASCAR and her favorite driver was Dale Earnhardt.

On May 14, 1988, she married Randy Thomas.

Survivors include her husband of Norway; her mother of Norway; a son, William Johnson of Norway; a daughter, Stacy Johnson of Oxford; a son, Robert and his wife, Carol, of Norway; three grandchildren, Justin and Jessica Robbins and Jordan Fadden; a sister, Linda Skinner and her husband, Bruce, of Norway.

She was predeceased by her father, Herbert, who died in December 2004.
