LEWISTON – Gwendlyn M. “Gwen” Mooar, 78, of Farmington, died early Tuesday morning, Feb. 22, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Lewiston.
She was born, Oct. 9, 1926, in Wilton, a daughter of George and Thena (Brann) Macomber, and attend local schools.
In 1947, she married Richard “Shorty” Mooar. She worked as a younger woman in the Wilton Woolen Mill and at Bass Shoe, also in Wilton.
She enjoyed camping, sewing, fishing, snowmobiling, and playing cards with her family and friends. She was also known for making various windsocks.
She is survived by her husband, Richard “Shorty” of Farmington; a son, Larry of Portland; a sister, Kathleen “Kitty” McDonald and her husband, Alvin “Mac,” of Wilton; a brother, Norman Macomber and his wife, Marilyn, of Toms River, N.J.; many loving nieces, nephews, neighbors and long time friends, Tom and Carol O’Hara of Concord, N.H.
She was predeceased by her parents; and mother-in-law, Apphia Churchill.
