LEWISTON – Virgil L. Salley Sr., 63, of 302 Pleasant St., died Sunday, Feb. 20, at Central Maine Medical Center.

He was born in Oakland on Oct. 2, 1941, the son of Vernol A. and the late Beverly A. Salley. He attended schools in North Anson, and was self-employed for many years.

He enjoyed doing automotive work, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a loving father and grandfather, and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his father; four daughters, Mrs. Ellery (Beverly) Philips Sr., Arlene Salley, Mrs. Angel (Esther) Hernandez, all of Lewiston, and Mrs. Tang (Dorothy) Nguyen of Lawrence, Mass.; one son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Salley Jr. of Lewiston; 20 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife, Brenda (Sawyer) whom he married on June 3, 1961; his mother; and his brother, Vernol Jr.
