PERU – George A. “Moose” Scott, Jr., 62, of Peru, passed away at his home Thursday morning Feb. 24, surrounded by his family, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Born March 24, 1942, in Rumford, he was the son of Cecilia (Jolin) and George A. Scott, Sr.

He received his GED, and went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Marines for two years, and an additional 31 years with the Army National Guard, retiring after becoming 100% disabled. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 100, Dixfield, where he served as the Post Commander for a couple of years.

As an accomplished logger, George Jr. operated his own logging company, Scott’s Logging, for many years with his son Peter.

On November 30, 1963, George Jr. married Louise R. Raymond at Saint Rose DeLima in Jay. As a devoted husband, father and grandfather, he will always be remembered and loved for the way he took care of us all. His passions were his family first, then the outdoors, camping, fishing, hunting, and building things for his grandkids. He was well known for his “bean hole beans” with his son in law, Carleton. Cards, dice, and cribbage were his favorite pastimes.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 41 years, Louise R. (Raymond) Scott; four children, Peter J. Scott, Ann M. Dickey and husband, Carleton, George A. Scott III, Troy E. and his wife, Tylene E. (Dewar) Scott; five grandchildren, Jeffrey J. Scott, Natalie R. Scott, Gabriella A. Scott, Brianna L. Scott and Elijah E. Dickey.
