LEWISTON – Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice announces its next bereavement volunteer training to begin Tuesday, March 1, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the office, 15 Strawberry Ave.

The five-week program will prepare volunteers for a range of responsibilities in grieving support for the agency’s patients and their families.

The training facilitator, Jim Douglas, said the course curriculum is comprehensive, exploring grief through group discussions, readings and individual and group activities. Topics will include hospice philosophy, understanding the issues surrounding grief, recognizing normal and complicated grief, listening skills and being a companion.

Anyone wanting more information or to register for the training can contact Nancy Greene, volunteer coordinator, at 777-7740, ext. 1281. No previous volunteer training is required. Refreshments will be served.

More information can be found at the agency’s Web site, ahch.org.
