PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) – Brad Boyes scored two goals and Matt Underhill posted his first American Hockey League shutout as the Providence Bruins blanked the Portland Pirates, 5-0, Friday.

Underhill made his first start since signing with Providence on Feb. 18 and stopped 18 shots for his first shutout in 14 career AHL games.

The Bruins, who extended their winning streak to three games, scored twice on the power play in the first period against Portland’s Kirk Daubenspeck, who made 26 saves over two periods.

Keith Aucoin converted a goal-mouth pass from Andy Hilbert at 14:07 and David Gove beat Daubenspeck at 16:46.

Boyes knocked in the rebound of a Brent Thompson slap shot at 5:00 of the second.

Hilbert scored an unassisted goal, his 30th of the season, at 11:19 of the third against Portland backup goalie Maxime Daigneault.
