Republicans listened to lies and deception during the presidential campaign while the strategists stood silently to the side, suppressing smirks as their man took office.

If a voter loves the outdoors and then voted for George Bush, he must believe that more mercury in the atmosphere today will produce cleaner air and better trout fishing tomorrow.

If voters thought that weapons of mass destruction were the reason Bush ordered the invasion of Iraq, they probably also believe the lies Bush is telling us now about Social Security. After all, who better to give sound financial advice than a failed businessman who has taken this country from the greatest surplus in history to the largest deficit?

I suppose that we are lucky to have a president who sees the future and realizes that another war will result in peace in the Middle East.

With Bush in charge, I foresee a new society based on strong Christian principles in which the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

Destruction of the environment is OK, I guess, as long as the president reads the Bible every day for inspiration. The Lord decided the last election, so desecrating the Earth, favoring the wealthy and ignoring the law must be all parts of God’s plan.
