WILTON – Ada B. Beisaw, 83, of Wilton, died Saturday evening, Feb. 26, at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Sharyn Beisaw, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Aug. 19, 1921, on Macomber Hill in Jay, a daughter of Joseph and Minnie (Newcomb) Hanscom. She was raised in Jay and graduated from Jay High School.
On July 6, 1940, she married Arthur Beisaw in Wilton and they lived at Beans’ Corner for a number of years where they enjoyed running Art’s Barn. They moved to Wilton in 1962 where they resided on Davis Court in Dryden.
For many years, she was employed at Frary’s Wood Turning in Dryden and also worked for the United States Postal Service.
She was a former member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Wilton and was a member of Wilson Grange, the Wilton Historical Society and the Wilton Extension.
She spent many hours outdoors in the fields picking berries or walking in the woods. She was well-known for her needlework that over the years has been shown at Farmington Fair and enjoyed by her family and friends.
Perhaps her most enjoyable time was when she attended the area youth sporting events, always supporting her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren in their athletic activities.
She is survived by two sons, David Beisaw and his wife, Linda, of Wilton and Paul Beisaw and his wife, Sharyn, of Wilton; a brother, Joseph “Junior” B. Hanscom and his wife, Methelyn, of Jay; a stepsister, Beverly Glines and her husband, Robert of Norway; six grandchildren, Gayle Beisaw Andrews of Henderson, Nev., Alan “Whitey” Beisaw of Wilton, Leigh Beisaw Elwell of Turner, Kimberly Beisaw Minns, Karin Beisaw Fernald and Ryan Beisaw, all of Wilton; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Art, who died Feb. 27, 1994; her parents; and stepfather, Verner Smith; a sister, Ruth Kidder; and a stepsister, Betty Ring.
