PERU – C. Dwight Oldham, 93, a lifelong resident of West Peru, passed away quietly at his home on the Dickvale Road early Sunday morning.

He was born on the family property in West Peru, May, 5, 1911, the son of Clarence and Josephine (Conant) Oldham. He was raised by his stepfather, Ben Roberts, after the death of his father when he was 3 years old.

He received his education in Peru schools and worked many years as a woodsman and was later employed by Maine Duntile, Piper Vault Co., and Diamond Match Co.

On Sept. 26, 1940, he married Helena Robinson in Winthrop after courting for nine years. They made their home all of their married life in the house they built on the family property in West Peru.

He is survived by his wife, Lena, of 64 years of Peru; and several special nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; stepfather; and stepbrother, Kenneth Roberts.
