LITCHFIELD – Donald Elwin Hill, 74, of Litchfield, passed on Saturday morning, Feb. 26, after a short illness. His family was at his side.

He was born on Sept. 11, 1930, in Lewiston, the son of Hartwell Elwin Hill and Alice Mae Mitchell. He grew up in Norway and graduated from Norway schools.

He married Madelyn Ann Danforth of Litchfield in 1953. They had been married for 51 years.

He was a millworker for all his working years and retired from Carleton Woolen Mill in 1993.

He was a refreshingly uncomplicated man and enjoyed the simple things in life. His favorite things were family gatherings, fishing, his pets, camping, eating good food, playing with his grandchildren, and watching “Walker, Texas Ranger.”

He will be remembered as a hard-working, honest, proud and humble person.

He is survived by his beautiful loving wife of 51 years; his two daughters, Debbie Pelletier and husband, Dave, of Litchfield, Vickie Hackett and husband, Mike, of Litchfield; his six sons, Ricky Hill and Diane and their friend, Lori, of Litchfield, Randy Hill and wife, Lori, of Richmond, Richard Hill and wife, Ellen, of Litchfield, Steven Hill of Litchfield, Timothy Hill and Dawn of Richmond, Chadd Hill and Melissa of Litchfield. He was “Grumpy” to Crystal, Courtney, Gage, Chelsey, Tiffany, Aisha, Elias, Nathaniel, Ryker, Sierra, Tycen, Zoe, Josie, and Chevelle.

He will be missed and remembered by all who knew him.
