Many thanks to Cal Thomas (Jan. 20 and Feb. 24) for alerting us to the threat posed by terrorist sleeper cells in the United States. Thomas’ wake-up call should not be ignored. Many of our neighbors are not law-abiding citizens, but are, in fact, secret adherents of a radical agenda whose goal is the destruction of the United States.
How can we here in Lewiston-Auburn protect ourselves from this threat? I have a few suggestions: Create neighborhood terrorist-watch groups; check for coded messages in the personal ads in the Sun Journal; ask our municipal governments to publish the names and addresses of all those who belong to ethnic groups likely to terrorize innocent Americans.
We must be vigilant. If you see someone buying pita bread and hummus at the grocery store, alert the local FBI office. That simple act might save our nation from grievous harm.
Bleeding-heart liberals will undoubtedly whine about my suggestions. Let them. Real Americans know that we are free only when we are afraid.
