TAMPA, FLA. – Louis P. DeLisle, 87, formerly of 81 Smith St., Augusta, died after a brief illness on Friday, Feb. 25, at the James A. Haley Veteran’s Hospital in Tampa, Fla.

He was born in Lewiston, June 2, 1917, the son of Alexis and Delima (Roy) DeLisle. He attended Lewiston schools, and was employed by the Woolen Mill in Brunswick, before serving in the United States Army during World War II.

After his service to his country, he was employed at Lewiston Plate Glass, prior to opening his own glass business in Augusta, known as Augusta Plate Glass Co. on Bangor Street, in 1947. He continued to work at Augusta Plate Glass until he retired in 1997.

He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church of Augusta and was a lifelong member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge of Augusta. He enjoyed watching the Montreal Canadians hockey team and was a big fan of harness racing.

Survivors include his daughter, Louise J. Perry and her husband, Kerry, of Mulberry, Fla.; two sons, Ronald C. DeLisle of East Winthrop, and Michael DeLisle Sr., and his wife, Irene, of Winthrop; 10 grandchildren, Perry Scott or California, Lisa Perry of Florida, Renee Perry of Massachusetts, Christopher DeLisle of North Whitefield, Sarah DeLisle, Michael DeLisle Jr., Reed DeLisle and Arica DeLisle, all of Winthrop, Melissa DeLisle of California and Adam DeLisle of Massachusetts; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Georgette (Dumais) DeLisle on Nov. 15, 1988. He spent his summers with his son, Ronald C. DeLisle, in East Winthrop, and wintered in Mulberry, Fla. with his daughter, Louise J. Perry.
