You can do it, Jill.
Lean back,
Tips out of the water;
I feel pressure mounting against my ski
As the boat pulls away from the dock.
Cheers of encouragement fading,
As I rise up on my feet.
Jubilant.
Victorious.
Tall and proud I stand like Lady Liberty.
We turn back and cross the lake,
Tilting and wobbling, determined to stay up.
The cheers from the dock grow louder,
As my fans come back into view.
We approach the dock,
Dad yells drop;
My hands release their grip,
Surrendering to the water
Down … down .. . splash!
Up and down I bob –
I taste success.
