LEWISTON – David E. Adams, 60, a proud resident of Auburn, passed away Thursday, March 3, at Central Maine Medical Center, Lewiston.

He was born in Lewiston on March 1, 1945, the son of William and Doris (Hathaway) Adams. He went through Lewiston schools, graduated from Lewiston High School, and attended Gorham State Teachers College.

On June 20, 1963, he married the love of his life, Virginia “Ginny Sue” Sue Gardner of Sabattus. They were married more than 40 years, and were devoted to each others interests.

He worked for Davis Cadillac, R.I. Mitchell, and Central Maine Power Co. He retired from CMP in 1995, with 27 years of service. He was also a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, and served as assistant business manager for two years.

Dave had many passions in his life including politics, scouting, cars, and collectible toys. In the early 1980s, he served on the Auburn City Council. He also served on various public boards including the Auburn Sewage Board, Charter Commission and the State Real Estate Licensing Board.

An Eagle Scout, he served as both a cubmaster and scoutmaster for many years. He loved to collect and sell both cars and collectible toys. He operated Dad’s Toys for several years.

His biggest passion was his friends. Always willing to help, talk or just listen. Dave will be remembered as everyone’s friend, with a big smile and a bigger heart.

The passions of his life were surpassed only by the love for his family. He deeply loved his wife, Ginny, and was very thankful for her many years of support, particularly during his illness.

He loved both of his sons, Mark and Michael, and was proud of their accomplishments. He also loved his daughter-in-law, Kate, like a his own. The joys of his life were his grandsons, Tucker and Tanner. He enjoyed helping them with their scouting, and attending their sports and other activities.

He leaves behind his wife, Virginia, of Auburn; two sons, Michael of Scarborough, and Mark and his wife, Katherine, and their sons, Tucker and Tanner, all of Lewiston; his brother, William Adams and his wife, Billie, of Lewiston; Audrey Grant, sister-in-law; James and Charlene Gilley, brother and sister-in-law; several nieces and nephews; and many, many friends.

His friendship and company will be deeply missed.
