GARDINER – Michael Cooper will perform “Masked Marvels and Wondertales” at Johnson Hall Performing Arts Center, 280 Water St., at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 5.

Cooper is a visual artist and virtuoso mime whose performances have dazzled audiences for almost 30 years. His one-man extravaganza combines his handcrafted masks, original stories of courage and wonder, outlandish stilt dancing and a physical repertoire ranging from madcap to sublime. The result is a “moving sculpture,” according to a spokesman for Johnson Hall.

Taking up to 300 hours to produce a single paper or cloth mask, Michael has elevated this ancient theater crafts to a fine art. More information about the arts center is at www.johnsonhall.org.

Ticket prices are: adults, $12.50; Johnson Hall members, $11.50; and children under 13, $10. Seating is limited. Tickets can be reserved at 582-7144 or johnsonhall@verizon.net.

The snow date is Sunday, March 6 at 2 p.m.
