WATERVILLE – Sister Juliette Maheu, O.S.U., 90, formerly known as Sister Marcellin,

died peacefully March 2, at Mount St. Joseph in Waterville, where she had been a resident since August, 2004.

She was born in Waterville, Aug. 7, 1914, the daughter of Marcellin and Delina (Morin) Maheu. Sister graduated from St. Francis de Sales Elementary School, Waterville High School, the Auburn Maine School of Commerce, and was awarded a degree from St. Joseph’s College in North Windham.

She also studied at Providence College in Rhode Island and at Catholic University in Washington, D.C. Sister made her novitiate in Waterville. Following her religious profession, Sister exercised her ministry of service in the field of education, teaching in several of our schools in Maine and Massachusetts.

She was a much loved teacher and will be remembered by all her former students and her many friends as a woman of faith and prayer, of compassion, and one who possessed a wonderful sense of humor.

Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Gloria Maheu of Waterville, and Anne Maheu of Wilmington, Del.; several nieces and nephews; grandnieces and grandnephews; and her religious sisters.

She was predeceased by her parents; eight brothers; and six sisters.
