OTISFIELD – Residents on Saturday will be expected to elect a town clerk and selectman, and vote on road construction standards.
These decisions and a vote on a proposed $1.13 million municipal budget will be part of the annual town meeting, which begins at 9:30 a.m. at the Otisfield Community School on Powhatan Road.
The $1.13 million budget represents a 1 percent increase over last year’s budget of $1.12 million.
Apart from the above, said Otisfield Board of Selectman member Lenny Adler on Thursday, “there is another article to create a finance committee that would replace the budget committee.”
Adler said the finance committee proposal has been placed on the warrant as the result of a petition brought forward by a group of residents.
According to the warrant, the finance committee would “participate in the development of an annual budget, financial management of the town, and the development of long-range financial plans, including a Capital Improvement Plan.”
The committee would consist of seven members appointed to three-year terms by the selectmen.
The new road construction ordinance would establish “minimum construction standards for new roads, streets, and other public and private ways,” according to the document.
It would apply to the construction of all new roads or streets within the town, whether they were public or private.
