LEWISTON – A special election to fill several vacancies will be held at the Lewiston Senior Citizens meeting at 1:15 p.m. Monday, March 7, at the Multi-Purpose Center. Sue Blais will discuss the SEARCH program. All area seniors age 50 or over are welcome.

Lodge degree

AUBURN – Ashlar Lodge 105, AF and AM, will be working the Masonic third degree on Monday, March 7, at the Auburn Masonic Temple, 1021 Turner St. There will be a 6:30 p.m. supper followed by the work of the evening at 7:30. LEWISTON – The Lewiston High School Girls Softball Boosters will hold a planning meeting for the upcoming softball season at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, in room B117 at the school. AUBURN – The Great Falls Dog Obedience Club will start another six-week class Wednesday, March 9, in Auburn. The beginners will meet at 6:30 p.m. and advanced at 7:30. Those wishing to register should call the club’s trainer, Diane Harrington, at 784-7578. Puppies must be at least 3 months old.

Skating show

AUBURN – The Auburn Parks and Recreation Department will present its 11th annual spring ice performance, “Toe Picks and Cool Flicks,” at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 12, at Ingersoll Arena. Cost will be $3 for those age 12 and up. Maineiacs hockey players are tentatively scheduled as guests to sign autographs.

Boating course

LEWISTON – A boating skills and seamanship course will be offered by the Kennebec River Power and Sail Squadron at 6:30 p.m. starting Tuesdays, March 15, at Lewiston High School

The eight-week course will cover boat-handling, trailering, federal and state regulations, navigation and navigation rules, safety equipment, adverse conditions and emergencies and boating fundamentals.

There is a one-time $45 cost for textbook, nautical chart and charting instruments, payable to the Kennebec River Power and Sail Squadron, on the first night of class.

Bridge results

LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Duplicate Bridge Club game usually held at the Multi-Purpose Center was canceled on March 1 due to the storm. Another game will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, March 8, at the center. A partner is guaranteed.

The club held a game on March 2 at Schooner Estates in Auburn. Winners in Flight A were: first, Jeanine Kivus and Rosemarie Goodwin; second, Ray Sirois and John Hackett; third, Sherry Hinckley and Lucille Theriault; fourth, David Lock and Martine Begert.

Flight B winners were Doug and Betty Sise. Another game will be held at 7 p.m.Wednesday, March 9, at Schooner Estates. For more information and/or a partner, anyone interested should call Lucille Theriault at 783-0431.
