Dear Sun Spots: Please see the enclosed letters attached with my letter.
I ordered from Del Prado, the World’s Smallest Book Collection. It was a club that sent four copies of the classics every month. After receiving the second shipment I canceled it. I sent both shipments back, requesting a refund. I have placed several calls to them and each time I was assured my request for a refund would be honored. One call to the company supposedly escalated to a manager. Still, I have not heard from them. Can Sun Spots please help me? Any help would be greatly appreciated. – Edward Lyons, Oxford.
Answer: Sun Spots spoke with Angela at Del Prado who says you were refunded in December. Sun Spots also verified that the refund was mailed to the post office address you supplied and Angela confirmed it was the same one. Sun Spots is not sure what additional steps you can take as the company is reluctant to provide your information to Sun Spots. Sun Spots would encourage you to contact them again to see when or if the check was cashed and perhaps this will help you narrow it down.
Dear Sun Spots: Are there any readers that might have done quilting in the past and no longer want leftover fabric? I have been making a scrap quilt and ran low on different colors.
If someone has leftovers, I would be willing to pay a reasonable price and/or reimburse for postage. Thank you in advance. I can be reached at (207) 583-6622. – Lucretia Rand, No Town.
Dear Sun Spots: I enjoy your column and read it every day. I have a couple of questions that you may be able to help me with.
In the song “God Bless America,” there is a line or two that precedes the actual chorus. They go something like: While the storm clouds gather over land and sea.”
I would like to know the other lines that come before the chorus.
Also, a friend of mine paints by numbers. She has made and given away probably 70 or 80 paintings of various subjects; sea scenes, mountains, animals and more. They are as beautiful as any print that you can purchase. Do these paintings have any value at all? Thank you so much. You perform such a great service for the community. Keep up the good work. – D.B., No Town.
Answer: Regarding your question about painting, Sun Spots does not believe they are of monetary value. Perhaps there are readers out there familiar with this and who might be willing to share their information with you.
In addition, Sun Spots located the following lyrics and hopefully they are what you are seeking:
“While the storm clouds gather far across the sea, Let us swear allegiance to a land that’s free. Let us all be grateful for a land so fair, As we raise our voices in a solemn prayer: God bless America, land that I love, Stand beside her and guide her Through the night with a light from above. From the mountains, to the prairies, To the oceans white with foam, God bless America, My home sweet home.”
Irving Berlin
