FARMINGTON – Each year in March, the American Cancer Society’s Daffodil Days provides an opportunity for local residents to purchase the first flowers of spring, the flower of hope, while at the same time supporting the fight against cancer.

Daffodil Days will be observed in the Farmington area during the week of March 21 with deliveries of orders of $35 or more scheduled for March 23 to 25. The deadline for ordering bouquets or the Gift of Hope is March 11.

Contributions received through the sale of flowers helps to keep the society’s resources in place for those who are or have been affected by cancer. The society is funding two scientists at the Jackson Laboratory in Bar Harbor with research grants totaling more than $850,000.

Daffodils are available in bouquets of 10 flowers for $7; a Gift of Hope, a bouquet arranged in a glass vase and given anonymously to a cancer patient in a local hospital or nursing home, is available for $20.

To order daffodils or to volunteer to help pack, sort or deliver daffodils, call Pam Ferrari at 778-3473 or the American Cancer Society’s office at 1-800-464-3102, press 3.
