LEWISTON – Philip J. Lamare Jr., 65, of Pleasant Street, died early Sunday morning suddenly after a long illness at his home.

He was born in Madawaska, Jan. 28, 1940, the son of Philip J. Lamare Sr. and the former Marie Saucier. He was a graduate of Lewiston High School.

On Nov. 24, 1960, he married the former Lorraine Bolduc, who survives him, of Lewiston.

He was the owner of Maine Leather Products and later worked for the Roy-Hill Corp.

He was an avid sports enthusiast, which included both the New York Yankees and the Montreal Canadiens. He enjoyed golf with many friends and family. He is also known as a skilled craftsman of wood products and a jack of many trades.

He was a member of Holy Cross Church.

Besides his wife he is survived by one daughter, Claire and her husband, Eric Beaulieu, of Lewiston; three sons, Marc and his wife, Nancy, of Falmouth, Paul and his wife, Jeanette, of Texarkana, Texas, and Michael and his wife, Michele, of Falmouth; one brother, Gilman Lamare of Auburn; six sisters, Bernice Michel of Lewiston, Marie and her husband, Lawrence Couillard, of Auburn, Joan Labadie of Lewiston, Vera Lamare of Auburn, Ruth and her husband, Paul Martin, of Lewiston, and Gilmay Lamare of Auburn; and six grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
