LEWISTON – Rita Dube, executive director of the Franco-American Heritage Center at St. Mary’s, will be the guest speaker of the Saints Peter and Paul Society following the 8 a.m. breakfast meeting on Sunday, March 13, in the Dominican Conference Room.

She will talk about the history of the Franco-Americans in Lewiston and the acquisition of the former St. Mary’s Church and its conversion into a performing arts center, heritage museum and learning center.

Dube was hired by the center in 2001 to oversee a $4.5 million capital campaign to renovate the former church to conform to its new role in the cultural community.

Prior to being associated with the Franco Center, Dube chaired a $1 million campaign to build a new pool for the YWCA. She stayed on for eight years to serve as director of development. Prior to that, she was in charge of alumni relations and development at St. Dominic Regional High School.

Dube has always been an active member of the community, serving on numerous boards and committees, and for more than 40 years has been doing volunteer work for many organizations, churches, schools and the city of Lewiston.
