LEWISTON – Lois “Bunny” E. Smith, 85, of Lisbon Falls, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 6, at Central Maine Medical Center, in Lewiston, after a long illness.
She was born in Lisbon Falls, March 16, 1919, the daughter of Charles B. and Vesta Goodwin Smith. She attended local area schools, and graduated from Lisbon Falls High School in 1936. She then went on to earn a teaching certificate from the Auburn, Maine, School of Commerce, followed by a bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Maine.
She taught in schools in Fairfield, Islesboro and Traip Academy in Kittery. She was a member of Pine Tree Grange and the Androscoggin Retired Teachers Association.
She enjoyed her family and will be remembered for her happy disposition. She enjoyed all of nature’s beauty, traveling abroad and trips with her cousin Lorna.
She is survived by her nephew, E. Charles Smith of Lisbon Falls; niece, Eileen Smith-Porter of Bangor; sister-in-law, Erna Smith of Lisbon Falls; and cousins, Carol Pulsifer of Lisbon Falls, Russell Goodwin of Lisbon, Glenys St. Pierre of Lisbon and Lorna Starbird of Brockton, Mass.
She was predeceased by her parents; her brother, Eugene W. Smith; and nephew, Errol Smith.
Her family wishes to extend special thanks to the staff at The Lamp, who routinely went “the extra mile.”
