AUBURN – The Auburn-Lewiston YMCA announced that Renee Lizotte has joined the staff as the new Youth Sports & Teen Center director. Youth sports have been an integral program of the YMCA since its inception in L/A more than 137 years ago. The Teen Center is entering its 10th year of operation.

Lizotte will oversee and implement all programs associated with these programs.

Lizotte grew up in Rumford and attended Mountain Valley High School from 1995 to 1999. She graduated magna cum laude from Saint Joseph’s College in 2004 with a bachelor of science degree in physical education/exercise science. At Saint Joseph’s, she was a member of the National Scholastic Honor Society. She earned the honor of Outstanding Future Professional from the Maine Alliance of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance and earned the Eastern District Award as well.

Lizotte has been involved in her community through coaching basketball, soccer and track and field. She is also a volunteer for the adapted ski program at Shawnee Peak as well as the Special Olympics. Last January, Lizotte traveled with a Christian organization called Partners in Development to Haiti, where the group built houses while supplying medical supplies, food and clothing.
