LEWISTON – Qigong Master Ken Cohen will return to Maine for a public lecture and a series of workshops. This is Cohen’s second visit to Maine in as many years, but his first time lecturing and teaching in the Lewiston/Auburn area.

His schedule in the Lewiston/Auburn area is as follows:

Public lecture on “Qigong and Medical Science, The Way Of Qigong: Philosophy, Principles and Science of an Ancient Healing Practice from China,” 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, March 17, Lepage Conference Center, St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center. Free. Call HealthSteps at 777-8898 to preregister.

Cohen is an internationally renowned health educator, China scholar and Qigong master who lives in Colorado and travels the world teaching and lecturing. He is the winner of the Elmer and Alyce Green Award for Innovation and Lifetime Achievement in Energy Medicine.

Cohen has more than 35 years of experience. His work has been sponsored by the American Cancer Society, the American Academy of Medical Acupuncture the Canadian Ministry of Health and numerous universities.

He is the author of the Random House Classics, “The Way of Qigong and Honoring the Medicine” as well as audio and video courses and more than 200 journal articles.

The Lecture is titled “The Way of Qigong: Philosophy, Principles and Science of an Ancient Healing Practice from China.” In the slide-show lecture, Cohen will discuss the roots of Qigong in Chinese medicine and Taoism and how medical scientific research validates its healing effects.

People can attend the lecture to learn the science and history of Qigong, then attend the workshop to experience first hand Qigong.”

For those unfamiliar with Qigong and T’ai Chi Chuan, the practice is often associated with people moving slowly either in groups or individually in the park early in the morning.
