CANTON – A total of 99 voters turned out Friday to choose two selectmen, three Planning Board members and one road commissioner.
The candidates winning three-year selectmen’s terms were Richard Ray with 79 votes and Wallace Haynes II with 68. James Adley received 36 votes.
Three-year terms on the Planning Board were won by Kathleen Hutchins with 86 votes, Diane Ray with 82 and Tricia Blanchard with 59. Richard McCollister received 49 votes.
Craig Gammon received 81 votes for a one-year term as road commissioner. There were three write-in votes for the position, with one vote each going to Donald Hutchins, Mark Blanchette and Norris Conant.
Clinton Conant was a lone write-in for the Budget Committee.
All of the referendum questions on the ballot were approved. Among the questions voters approved were:
• Requiring that a reliable bonding company handle bonds for the town officers who require bonds.
• Selling and disposing of any real estate that the town acquires through nonpayment of taxes or foreclosure.
• Instructing selectmen to carry forward the unexpended balances in town accounts from 2005 to 2006.
• Approving the transfer of overdrafts and balances to the surplus account.
• Authorizing the tax collector to collect personal taxes more than one year old by methods prescribed for the current year’s taxes.
• Setting Nov. 8 as the date when taxes are payable.
The town meeting scheduled for today has been postponed until 9 a.m. Saturday, March 19.
