LEWISTON – Edward “Ed” R. Remington, 84, a resident of Main Street in Livermore Falls, died Thursday, March 10, at the d’Youville Pavilion, where he had been a patient since December.
He was born on Dec. 25, 1920, in Andover, the son of Ralph E. and Ruth Hutchins Remington and attended the schools of Andover. He also attended sheet metal school and diesel automotive school.
He served in the Army Air Force during World War II, stationed in Europe with the transportation unit. He later met his wife, June, in York Beach while working as a taxi driver. On May 28, 1946, he married June L. Curtis in York Beach. They made their home in Massachusetts, until moving to Livermore Falls in 1952.
He worked for Isaacson Lumber Co., in Livermore Falls as a long haul trucker, retiring on March 1, 1985, after 36 years of service. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Livermore Falls and the VFW, Frank L. Mitchell, Post 3335 of Jay. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and playing the guitar and harmonica. He and his wife enjoyed participating in musicals at the Forest Lakes Resort in Florida, where they played the parts of Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn, Roy Rogers and Dale Evans and Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years of Livermore Falls and Florida; a daughter, Linda Joy Chase and her husband, Parker, of St. Peters, Mo.; four brothers, Francis and Harold Remington, of Loveland, Colo., Robert of Florida, and Stanley of Fayette; three sisters, Arlene Harrington of East Bethel, Kay DeVona of Skowhegan and Charmaine Cote of Farmington, N.H.; two grandchildren, Michael David Chase and Tiffany Chase Green; and a great-granddaughter, Raina Elise Green.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Raymond and Clarence Remington.
