SOUTH PARIS – Mabelle S. Merrill, 93, of South Paris, died Thursday, March 10, at Market Square Health Care Center.

She was born in Paris, on Oct. 21, 1911, the daughter of Roscoe and Lilla Swift Slattery. She graduated from Paris High School in 1929.

She had been a homemaker all of her life and worked at the Handy Store. She was a member of the Paris Alumni Association, the Christmas club, the Mother’s club and the Paris Cape Historical Society. She was an excellent cook. She enjoyed collecting, and had large collection of cream pitchers.

She married Henry R. Merrill in 1930, and he passed away in 1963. She is survived by three sons, Roger F. Merrill and James L. Merrill, both of South Paris, and Henry Jack Merrill of Kempton, Pa.; 11 grandchildren, Debra, Steven, Francis, Joseph, Bruce, Jack, Michael, Cindy, Hank, Cheryl and Karen; and 12 great-grandchildren.
