NORWAY – Less than $200 was stolen Monday during an early-morning burglary at the Ketner Pharmacy on Fair Street, according to police.
Norway Police Chief Rob Federico said Thursday that police responded to the pharmacy after an alarm was activated about 3:30 a.m.
“We know the person entered the rear door of the building,” Federico said.
He added that the burglar stole money from the pharmacy, but did not take any drugs.
Federico said he could not give out more information because the incident is under investigation.
He did say Norway and state police, who brought a trained dog to track the burglar, were on the scene until almost 7 a.m.
“Mechanic Falls had a similar burglary last week, so we’re looking if they might be tied together or not,” Federico said.
The Ketner Pharmacy parking lot also was the scene of police action Feb. 16, when two men were arrested at 3 p.m. on charges of trafficking and furnishing drugs, and sale or use of drug paraphernalia.
The men were found preparing to use the drug Oxycontin after police received a call about suspicious activity, Federico said.
Federico said he didn’t know whether the burglary and drug arrests were related, “but obviously that’s something we would look at,” he said.
