LEWISTON – Androscoggin Head Start and Child Care has received a Program of Excellence award from the Administration for Children and Families. The award was presented in January by Hugh Galligan, regional administrator of the administration’s regional office.

During the week of April 5-9, 2004, a team of reviewers visited all the Androscoggin Head Start and Child Care sites and central office, where provided services and programs were reviewed. The information, which was gathered and reviewed for compliance with the mandates that all Head Start programs are expected to follow, was the basis for the award.

Members of the Board of Directors and Policy Council also recognized the staff of Androscoggin Head Start and Child Care for all their hard work, support and commitment done in recruiting and enrolling eligible children and families who most need help to make positive gains towards self-sufficiency.
