LEWISTON – Announcement is made of the engagement of Jessica Critchley of Sanford, formerly of Lewiston, to Edward Cormier of Sanford.

Miss Critchley is the daughter of R. Douglas Critchley of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Jackie and Frank Corthell of Lady Lake, Fla. She is a graduate of Old Orchard Beach High School in 1998 and also graduated from Hartford University in 2003 with a bachelor’s degree in health science and occupational therapy. She is currently employed at Home Health Visiting Nurses of Southern Maine as an occupational therapist.

Mr. Cormier is the son of Paul Cormier of Sanford and Carol Cadd of Roanoke, Va. He is a petty officer second class, submarine qualified, machinist mate. He is a 2000 graduate of Salem High School in Salem, Va., and then joined the U.S. Navy to be a nuclear machinist mate. After completing the Navy’s nuclear power pipeline, it carried him from Great Lakes, Ill., to Charleston, S.C., to Saratoga Springs, N.Y., and finally to Groton, Conn., where he was stationed aboard the USS Providence. After returning from Operation Iraqi Freedom, the submarine was relocated to Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for overhaul.

The couple is planning a Sept. 24 wedding at Our Lady of Perpetual Health in Maine.
