SOUTH PARIS – Police from several agencies Saturday night were still searching for suspects in a seemingly unrelated pair of robberies in two different towns.

At 8 p.m. Friday, police were called to the Rite-Aid on Main Street in South Paris after a man reportedly brandished a gun there and threatened a clerk.

No one was hurt, but police were still searching for the masked suspect hours after the heist was reported.

Shortly after 9 p.m. Friday, a robbery was reported in Fryeburg. In that stickup, police said a pair of men robbed another group of people. Later in the night, police were searching for the suspects who were believed to have driven away from the scene in a small car.

Investigators from Paris, Norway and the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office were involved in the search for the suspect from the Rite-Aid heist. Sheriff’s officials were also assisting with the search for the suspects from Fryeburg.

It was unclear whether the suspect targeted the Rite-Aid pharmacy or a clerk in the main part of the store. The Rite-Aid pharmacy closes at 8 p.m. while the remainder of the store remains open an hour later.

An agent from the Lewiston-based Central Maine Violent Crimes Task Force was notified about the robberies and was expected to join the investigation.
