A decision to shut down a paper machine at the paper mill in Jay has been unveiled. This state has offered Maine residents a place to have balance between employment opportunity and a healthy environment. We have beautiful rivers that we should all be proud of. I hope we continue to be good stewards of the environment. I want future generations to have the same opportunity I have to enjoy the wonderful state that I live and work in.

High taxes and environmental laws are driving manufacturing jobs out. The ability for Maine people to earn a decent living in an already depressed state is only getting more difficult.

The Gulf Island Pond issue is ridiculous.

People below the mill discharges should be concerned with untreated fecal waste discharged by municipalities along with the farms adding to the phosphorus in the river. Or maybe tourists will enjoy seeing the tissue paper hang from trees below the city of Lewiston as they head toward the rest of the state park that our legislators are creating.

Ive witnessed a company clean up its environmental act over the past 17 years. I don’t think this state will find a more environmentally responsible company than International Paper.

I hope the people in our state government do the right thing for the people of this state before it is too late.
