HEBRON – The annual town meeting will convene at 10 a.m. Saturday in the gymnasium at the Hebron School off Hebron Station Road.
Voters will decide on a proposed $503,430 budget and choose officials.
The budget proposal is an increase of $90,441 over last year and could change significantly if voters approve selling town plow equipment, valued at $10,000, and hiring a contractor to maintain roads in winter.
Voters also will consider switching to a professional municipal fire department from a volunteer operation.
The budget being voted on Saturday, however, will be a municipal operating budget only, as the SAD 17 school assessment and the Oxford County tax bill will have to be factored in later.
Both of those requests are expected to increase. Those figures are not known because SAD 17 and the county operate on a fiscal year from July 1 to June 30, and the town is on a calendar year from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31.
Before the business portion of the warrant, voters will cast ballots for a town clerk/treasurer/tax collector for the coming year, as well as a selectman for a three-year term, a road commissioner for a two-year stint and a Moody Library trustee for a three-year term.
