LIVERMORE – Washburn Norlands Living History Center will open sap camp and offer a pancake breakfast on Saturday and Sunday, March 19 and 20.

Down at sap camp participants may walk through the woods and see how the trees are tapped and sap collected. In the sap house they may experience making maple syrup the old-fashioned way as they watch the sap trays simmer over a wood-fired stove. Weather permitting, there will be wagon rides to the camp and the oxen will help with the sap collecting.

Participants may also feel the warmth of the kitchen while eating pancakes with maple syrup before or after visiting the camp.

Activities will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday, March 19, and continue until 11 a.m. On Sunday, they will start at 10 a.m. and end at 1 p.m.

There is no charge for visiting the camp and the pancake breakfast is $5 for adults and $2.50 for children 10 and under. A lot of activity will take place outdoors so warm dress is advised. For more information, call 897-4366 or visit the Web at www.norlands.org.
