RUMFORD – Anthony “Tony” Karpen Jr., 80, died Wednesday, March 16, at the Victorian Villa Nursing Home in Canton. He was a resident of Penobscot Street in Rumford.
Born in Mexico, on Sept. 23, 1924, he was a son of Anthony and Julia (Ukmont) Karpen Sr. He was a graduate of Mexico High School and worked as a beater engineer for Boise Cascade Paper Mill for 40 years.
He was married in Rumford, on April 2, 1946, to Ruth Mahoney who survives him of Rumford. Other survivors include two daughters, Brenda Franklin of Hopewell, Va., and Carla Karpen of Atoka, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Heidi Patterson of Chesterfield, Va., and Craig Radcliff of Hopewell, Va.; and three great-grandchildren, Sydney, Matthew and Alivia Patterson.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Mary Soubble and Stella Malchardio.
