GORHAM – Evelyn M. Anastasio, 87, died Tuesday, March 15, at the Gorham House in Gorham. She was a longtime Rumford resident.

Born in Rumford, on Dec. 6, 1917, she was the daughter of John and Yvonne (Provencher) Brennick. She was a graduate of Stephen’s High School in Rumford with the Class of 1937. She worked as an office manager for Dr. James Orino for many years, until her retirement in the early ’80s.

She was a communicant of St. Athanasius and St. John Church, where she sang in the church choir and was active in the local choral group. She was an active member of the church, helping out at suppers, bingo and block parties. She was a member and past regent of St. Timothy Circle 504, Daughters of Isabella and was also a member of the church guild. She was a member of the Rumford Mother’s Club and was a former member of the Stephen’s Band Boosters. She loved knitting, sewing and dancing.

She was married in Rumford, on Sept. 4, 1939, to Philip Anastasio who survives her of Gorham.

Other survivors include a daughter, Mariann Goff and her husband, Stanley, of Waterboro; a son, Philip Anastasio of Windsor, Conn.; five grandchildren, Lori Goff of Waterboro, James Anastasio of Windsor, Conn., Christine Anastasio of East Hartland, Conn., Jennifer Budaj of Glastonbury, Conn., and Paula Raia of Lyman; two brothers, John Brennick and his wife, Louise, of Rumford and Raymond Brennick and his wife, Inez, of Auburn; and five great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Phyllis Pinkham; and two sisters, Theresa Masalsky and Vivian Ricker.
