BRIDGTON – Bridgton Public Library will offer a free writing workshop from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 2, in the Meeting Room. Designed for beginning and practiced writers, it will be led by Joan Hunter, director of Fifth House Lodge Writer’s Retreat. The workshop is free, and preregistration is requested.

A writing coach and workshop leader for 14 years who teaches privately and at area universities, Hunter’s techniques are appropriate for every level of writer.

Those interested in writing as creative expression, who wish to write memoirs or family stories, or those who want to keep or improve their journals, will learn several methods and some simple tricks to improve their skills.

They will practice writing using Hunter’s techniques, discovering voice, personal story and meaning through the writing process.

In addition to her private teaching, Hunter has taught at Maine College of Art, the Universities of Southern Maine, New Hampshire and New England and at the Maine Writers and Publishers Alliance.

Materials will be provided, but participants should bring their favorite writing pen. For more information on the program or other activities at the library, call 647-2472. The library is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.Tuesday and Friday, noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
