The northern New England vote in the 49-51 roll call by which the Senate voted to open the ecologically rich Alaska wildlife refuge to oil drilling.

On this vote, a “yes” vote was a vote to remove a refuge drilling provision from next year’s budget and kill the measure and a “no” vote was a vote to clear the way for the approval of drilling in the refuge later this year.

Voting “yes” were 41 Democrats, 7 Republicans and one independent.

Voting “no” were 3 Democrats and 48 Republicans.

Maine

Collins (R) Yes; Snowe (R) Yes.

New Hampshire

Gregg (R) No; Sununu (R) No.

Vermont

Jeffords (I) Yes; Leahy (D) Yes.
