NORWAY – John David Pinto Sr., 81, of Montello Heights, Lewiston, died March 16, at the Stephens Memorial Hospital.
He was born July 17, 1923, in Brooklyn, N.Y., the son of James and Elizabeth (Vatelli) Pinto. He graduated from Erecht High School in Brooklyn and was the New York City Golden Gloves Champ.
He was a World War II Navy Veteran and was involved with D-Day and the invasion of North Africa.
He lived 45 years in Bellerose, L.I., N.Y., and for 25 of those years he worked for General Motors Acceptance Corporation as a price analyst for their overseas operation.
He enjoyed all sports, especially his golf. He moved to Lewiston three years ago.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Annie (Crooks) Pinto, of the Veterans’ Home in South Paris; one son, John D. Pinto Jr. and his wife, Suzanne, of Paris Hill; two daughters, Alice Power and husband, Joseph, and Patti Pinto, all of Florel Park, L.I., N.Y.; one brother, James Pinto, of Trenton, N.J.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Dolly Bonjurnie and Mimi Favata.
