FARMINGTON – Nellie E. Hooper, 105, of New Sharon, died Thursday evening, March 17, at Sandy River Center for Health Care, Farmington.
She was born Aug. 18, 1899, in Mt. Vernon, a daughter of the late Samuel D. and Millie (Gilman) Eaton.
She was educated in the schools of New Sharon.
Nellie married Frank Hooper on Dec. 25, 1920.
She was a lifelong member of the New Sharon Congregational Church.
Nellie enjoyed gardening, crocheting and making patchwork quilts.
She was the recipient of two Boston Post gold-headed canes for being the oldest citizen in the Town of New Sharon and the Town of Farmington.
She is survived by her son, Paul Hooper, of New Sharon; daughter, Arlene Tulley of Webster, N.Y.; eight grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Frank; and by her brother, Charles F. Eaton.
